Q: how to setup imessage/facetime for tmobile unlocked iphone 4? HELP ME :(

Hello guys,

I activated my iphone 4 to tmobile from att.

Receiving/making call and text works well. But iMessage and Facetime is not working with my phone number, it just sending with my email address!!

I tried to change the receiving address to phone number but on my phone (setting-message-iMessage section), phone number bar is showing as verifying; same as on Facetime. Also its gray out and not possible to tab though. And finally verifying status changes to error... Even though my phone number seems as correct format with +1-XXX-XXX-XXXX.

I have ios5.1 with 4.12.01

How can I figure out this issue? does anyone have same problem like me?

Please help me to figure it out!

T-Mobile in the US is NOT a supported carrier of the iPhone. Many features, including 3G speed, Facetime, MMS, Visual Voicemail will simply not work. Nothing you can do other than to go with AT&T on that phone, or purchase and use an iPhone with Sprint or Verizon.

Some of my friends who unlocked their iPhone eariler than me has iMessage option even though their carrier is T-mobile and didnt make any change like jailbreak. They saying it worked automatically Is it their luck?
I thought I would be able to get support for those features too.

Only thing you can do is to talk to T-Mobile.

FaceTime is a wi-fi app. FT isn't dependent on a carrier to function if it has been configured properly. Many of us have no issues with MMS and SMS, again if the phone has been configuered properly. T-Mobile is also slowly rolling spectrum over for 3G service in a number of locations.
