help! wierd stuff going on!

So I havn't turned my mac pro on for a few days, and when I do, this has happened:

The issues are:

Icons missing

Default fonts seemed to have changed

dock will not come out of hiding

computer much slower

I have asked the Mrs if she installed any fonts, but she sai d that she hadn't.

I also tried getting the fonts folder out from time machine and replacing it with the one in the mac hd/library folder, but no luck!

Any ideas? I'm on the latest version of SL

Mac Pro 8-Core 2.26 / MacBook Pro 13" 10.5.3 2.53, Mac OS X (10.6.6), Logic 9

thanks for this, I'm just downloading the update now...

One question... My font book has no fonts under "All Fonts"

When I tried adding the ones in the System/library/fonts folder, nothing happens.

Is this normal?

Hm. The "All Fonts" collection in Font Book should display every font you have on your computer by name.

The System/Library/Fonts folder is owned by the computer and should not be altered: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2435

If you have fonts installed in /Library/Fonts and /System/Library/Fonts, they should appear in Font book. If you are running any non-Apple Font managers like Extensis Suitcase, turn them off: http://www.extensis.com.

If installing the update does not help then I would suggest you backup your data and reinstall the OS: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8177.html
