Now the problem is with my iPhone. I'm using iCloud and when I try to change the Apple ID in the "iCloud Account Information", the text field with the old ID (@comcast) is grayed out. My phone tells me that the iCloud user name or password is incorrent (Ignore or Edit), but I can't seem to change anything.

I successfuly changed the AppleID inside the Store, but with iCloud it's impossible to do it.

Thanksto Matt Curtis. This advise worked!!!!!!

I was facing the same issue. I was able to resolve it by going to Settings > iCloud. At the very bottom, there is an option to 'Delete Account'. It sounds much more dire than it really is. It simply breaks the connection with your device and the iCloud set up for that email. Delete Account, then head back into Settings > iCloud. You will be prompted to enter new information, and your problem should be solved.

Go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and log in to your AppleID (under the manage section) a with the OLD email address. Now, change the primary email address to your new email address and verify it. You have now altered your AppleID to use the new email address as the primary ID, but the internal account associated with that AppleID is exactly the same.

Now, on your phone, simply delete the iCloud account, and add it back with the new AppleID - since the AppleID is still linked to the same account, you are merely recreating the same iCloud account but with the new updated credentials.
