mbp 15-inch early 2011 , fails to boot , hardware daignostics find no problem , it tries to boot from HDD and turns off after the circle starts revolving. looks like Hardware daignostics doesnt have HDD test. I couldnt find the CD that came with the system , cant do restore to Daig off the cds ,

If no to both, sounds like your disk is shot.
it doesnt go that far , looks like it tries to find the MBR and gives up . couldnt find the cd's would be nice to run disk utility and see if finds anything , good to have disk daig in hardware daignosis though
Best guess is that either the disk is shot or the bus to/from the disk is shot/not connected securely.
