lexmark pro905 won't print black and white lion

I have a lexmark 905 printer on mac osx 10.7 and would like to print in black and white.

I do not hve the advanced tab under quality but there is a check box for print in black and white.

When the box is checked or unchecked the printer ignores it and prints in color.

Is there any way to change the document to greyscale before it gets to the printer?

If not, any suggestions"
