I have upgraded to Lion so I could use I cloud. Initially Icloud was in my preferences but I was unable to receive the email to verify Icloud. I changed my itunes password but now for some reason Icloud no longer shows in my preferences, mail,mobile me network and sharing is there but not I cloud. Does anyone know how I can sort this out?

It sounds like you are talking about the Mail application. I just upgraded my laptop to Lion and converted mobile-me to iCloud. For a period after the change, I was having email sending and receiving issues on my Mac with Lion and my G5 Mac, which cannot run Lion. Try this - in Mail - Preferences, add a new account to be associated with your .me email. This Apple support page gives the specifications:

Once you get this account working properly, you can delete the account associated with your mobile-me email.
Forgive me Carlo for my stupidity but how do I get a screen shot?
Don't kick your self... no one ... I repeat no one is stupid. (press at the same time "command" and the "shift key" and the number "3" at the same time in that order. Most time you will see it written as "cmd+shift+3" this is reffing to the same proocess.)
Sorry Michael I may not have been clear, it is not mail I am having a problem with it is Icloud, it does not show in my preferences. It was there but now is not, there are 5 things shown under systems preferences/internet and wireless on my mac but I cloud is not there.
It was initially there but I didnt receive the verification email from apple and discovered it is a common problem after reading forums, after changing my itunes password and getting the verification email to verify Icloud when I went to use it it is not now there.
All very frustrating....

it was just a poor choice when i initially signed up to seek help. I should not have used my real name.
you can also take a screen shot of a particular section... not the entire screen by using cmd+shift+4 then dragging it and when you release the trackpad or mouse you will have just a screen shot of that selection.

However if I go to apple(top left) system preferences, then I have the following sections;
personal,hardware internet and wireless.
Iinside internet and wireless should be Icloud but it isn't there (which is what i want) There is only; mail contacts and calenders,mobile me,network bluetooth and sharing in the internet and wireless folder.
Hmmm..... Are you able to log in at www.icloud.com? ok... this is what to try... open system preferences. Click the Tab that says Mail, Contacts, & Calendars. Look on the left hand side... do you see icloud... if you do press the minus on the bottom, and then just readd it... if you dont see icloud on the left, press the plus sighn on the bottom and then select icloud. I think this activates icloud on ones system.

Under mail contacts when i click there it shows Icloud, I enter my new email address and password and it says Icloud is already set up, however it shows my previous itunes email address that I had to change to get the icloud verification email. I can't work out how to change my default itunes email address to the new one I have now set up.?
I wish you can give me a screen shot. Command+shift+3 will take a screen shot. Command+shift+4 will let you take a shot of something specific.
