Software update wants to update Mac OS X update combined 10.7.3 (1.34GB, seems like a big file) but it returns with 'error' and does not install I currently have a Mac Book Pro with OS X version 10.7.2. I have tried updating from the apple website but it tells me I need to have OS X 10.7.3 to update. Please help know what to do, thanks in advance.

Download the 10.7.3 Combo Updater from the Apple Download site then run it. If it returns an error then you have other problems with your system.
Ok I am currently downloading the update you recommended but its going to take 6hours so I will let you know if it has helped. Thanks again

After waiting for the software to download it seemed to be going well. The installation went all the way to the summary and comes up with " There were errors with the installation. You may want to try i" and "The Installation failed" "The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance." See below from my screen snap.
Any ideas or know where else I could look?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list. Post the messages from the last installation attempt, starting from the time when you launched the Installer or Software Update. Post the log text, please, not a screenshot.
If there are runs of runs of repeated messages, please post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.

Do you have a boot camp partition with Windows installed?
Do you know if you have the Recovery HD partition on your internal drive? To check reboot the system and hold down the Copmmand+r keys at boot. That should take you to the Recovery HD partition if there is one. Or hold down the Option key for the boot menu screen and see if there is a Recovery HD listed.
If there isn't and or the Command+r does not take you to the Recovery HD then there isn't one and that is why the installer failed.
It is trying to create the Recovery HD partition and it can't with a Boot Camp partition.
Back up all data.
Boot from your recovery partition by holding down the key combination command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the Recovery desktop appears, reinstall the Mac OS. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac didn’t ship with Lion, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.
