My iPad 1 has worked perfectly until about a month ago, when it started adding letters and running words together whenever I type anything. I have done reset, restore, etc. Nothing stops this annoying situation. I end up correcting and re-typing everything. Can this be fixed?

Not human error-problems started abruptly three weeks ago. Separate keyboard not an option. Thank you for your suggestions. I'll see the Genius next week!
If it occurs after restoring to factory defaults/new iPad that points to a hardware problem and an appoinmtent at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
Are any of the letters being added of those close to the space bar?
Yes, but not always. I have had to slow my typing down to a crawl now to watch the touchpad like a hawk! But for the first year and a half it did not have this sensitivity.

The same here! But it think it is all down to human error. Have you considered a wireless keyboard?
