iPad 3 will not connect to wifi after waking.

My iPad 3 will not connect to wifi after it has been in sleep mode for a while. I have to disconnect and re-connect manually each time. Any ideas on how to fix this. It's getting rather annoying.

Thanks

Mark

I have the same problem. At first I thought it only was at home as the wifi antenna is not positioned ideally for our flats reception. The signal is a bit weak, but works. But then I noticed that it is the same at work, sitting 1 meter (3-4 feet) away from the antenna. When the iPad falls asleep, it will not get data from a website when you wake it up again. It is connected (it says), but wifi needs to be turned off and on to get it working again. A bit annoying, yes.

Cheers,

Paul

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398

Additional things to try.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

Thank you for your reply. I have looked at the links, but I am not sure any of that aplies here. Everything else work fine on the network. All other machines go in an out of sleep/wifi without problems. The routers (in my case) are Apple routers with latest updates. The frequency space is also not very crowded. It is just the iPad 3. It has no problems while on the net. It is just reconnecting after sleep.

The screen brightness up/down had no effect on my iPad 3.

At least from what I could see.

From the net it looks like this issue is not new to the iPad users.

I just tried my girlfriends iPad 3. Same problem. No reconnect after sleep.

Maybe an software update will address this some time...

Update: It does not always happen.

Could have to do with for how long it has been to sleep.

Cheers,

Paul

Turning WMD by itself did I not work for me. On the router I had to add the ip of the device to the dhcp reservation list and so far I have not had connectivity issues. It's been two days and counting. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed since this an annoying problem.

Hope apple addresses this and the low wifi signal issues in the next iOS update.
