Try either or both of these things.

Settings>WiFi>Network Name - tap the blue arrow next to your network name>Forget this Network. Restart your iPad and then go to Settings>WiFi > Tap your network name, enter the password and see if you can connect.

Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. Restart the iPad and go through the same steps as above - tap Settings>WiFi>Your Network Name> enter the password.

Have you reset the modem as well?

Turn modem and router off. let modem rest for at least two minutes to enable connection to reset at ISP's end. Whilst they are off tap the home button once whilst in home screen - to open the Apps bar and clear all open apps down by holding icons till they wiggle then shut down by tapping the little red icon that appears in the corner of each.

Reset ipads network settings - settings\general\reset Network reset, then power off afterwards

Then power up modem. Wait a minute. Then power up router wait a minute -

power on ipad - settings\wifi - connect to your network when it appears by adding password when prompted.

Come back if still a problem.

gives a fairly comprehensive list of workarounds - the interesting one is about the screen brightness. I suspect this may be something to do with low screen outputs imitating a sleep state causing the wireless adapters to power down.

A friend recently corrected theirs with this particular one - but work your way through them.

Antime you do a reset of any type, resync to itunes using the usb, before proceeding further\attempting to reconnect - this will ensure consistency of settings.

ensure all apps are closed down from the home screen by tapping once on the home button to bring up the App bar. this will ensure no Apps are caching network data that may interfere with reconnection attempts - and eliminate possible buggy App problems.

Clearing your safari cache data is also a good idea too. Safari\advanced\website data.

It could be a bit of trial and error there's as yet no one size fits all to the problem you are experiencing.

Forget network comes up once connection is established. Consider changing your Router SSID as well as setting a new password WPA/WPA2 Personal strength. Some router - linksys for instances - have a status page with info on current connections - consider removing any entries you find here for your device before attempting to reconnect again. I found an entry for a device that had been disconnected for nearly three days!! Corrupt cached data will stop a reconnect.

Additional things to try.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Hi all,

I am having the same problem after upgrading my iPad2 to iOS6.

ALL my other Apple devices (iPhone 4, iPhone5 and iPad1) have no issues connecting.

All these devices are on iOS6.

Everytime I key in my Password the error will be "Unable to Join...."

Did the Reset Network thing many times but still same problem.

Any advice.....

Am desperate.....

brand new iPad mini [wi-fi/cel VZ] will not join any of my three wireless networks with DSL internet connection ... wife suggested I try my Palm Pixie Verizon Mobile Hot Spot and there it joined correctly. That of course is not how I want it to have internet access as my hot spot has a 5G limit monthly. So I took it back and it worked on Apple store network but when they updated the firmware they decided it needed to be replaced. So they gave me another brand new mini which we set up at the apple store. It worked fine on their network but again when I got it home it would not join any of my 3 networks ... only the hot spot. The three it would not join are connected to my verizon 3Mbs DSL line they are a westell versalink 327W router, an Apple airport "snow" base station, and an apple airport express (2nd model made i think). All are wi-fi "b/g" not "n" so I think this may be at the root of the problem. The specs on the mini say it is compatible with 802.11 a/b/g/n/ networks but perhaps when they upgraded iOS 6.0.2 they forgot that. I have worked for 7 hours reconfiguring the routers changing channels removing changing and passwords ... but under no circumstances will the mini join them I have completely reset and erased [both] minis to clear any settings. But the same result, they would join only the pixie's hot spot or a neighbors' HPprinter (which after joining popped up a warning that it was not connected to the internet and would I like to try using the cellular connection) I am going to try one last test on my way to returning it at the apple store I will pass a neighbor that may have a newer router that is wireless a/b/g/n (also verizon DSL) and if it works then I'll have to decide if limited network availability is acceptable and makes it worth buying a newer router knowing there will be networks out there that I will not be able to join until and assuming Apple can and will fix this in a firmware update at some future time or if they will abandon my model and just tell me to upgrade. I'll let you know if my test works.
