iTunes Match Crashing at Step 3 (won't upload)

I've been using iTunes Match for quite some time now but the last few weeks, maybe longer, it crashes at step 3 where it tries to upload anything that wasn't automatically matched. There are only 2 songs that it tries to upload, but each time it crashes. This is the error report:

Before iTM gets to the 3rd step, click the Stop button and remove the two trouble-files from the library. Quit iTunes, then relaunch it and let iTM complete the process. Then add the troublesome files back to the library one at at ime and let iTM try to process them. Post back and let us know how it goes.

First, important question: what is "that other thread" that you mention?

For some reason, itunes Match only recognized about 11000 of my 20000 titles which means that there are literally thousands still to be matched.

That's why I see the little cloud symbol in my library after loads and loads of songs -- it would be very time-consuming to remove them all. I do know that the last two times the match crashed on the same song -- so how do I remove that song without deleting it? (That was my question before -- sorry, I'm not trying to be willfully obtuse -- I just don't understand how to do it.)

Why do I have so many unmatched songs? Does changing the Album, Artist, Song information (which I often do because I don't really like the classical music descriptors automatically provided) make the title unmatchable?

This thread: This solved my questionRe: iTunes Match Crashing at Step 3 (won't upload). Posted right above your previous post.

If you know the one track that is causing a crash delete it from the iTunes library by highlighting it and typing Option+Delete on the keyboard. In the dialog choose the option to "keep files."

Because the matching process is not 100% accurate; or you have an older mastering of an album that did match to what is in the store; or something in your library is not availble in the store. In short your library simply will not "match" 100%. There will be a percentage that must be uploaded.

"typing Option+Delete on the keyboard" -- what is "Option" in this case? And (provided I get this far), if I have chosen the "keep files" option, where do I find that title afterwards?

Thank you for your patience. This is turning out to be a harder, and more time-consuming (Step 1 and 2 take more than an hour to complete, and that is a huge improvement over earlier this week) process than I ever envisioned.

If you're using Windows it will be the ALT key.

If you're using Windows I don't know what the exact path will be but it will be in your User folder on a path similar to /Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/Artist/Album/song.

Just tried it: ALT + Del does not open a dialogue box; you get the same message ("Are you sure you want to delete this song?") as with the Del key alone. So I'm not sure this works for Windows.

What I am doing now is moving the crash-prone title in question to a new folder outside of iTunes via Windows Explorer. Not elegant, but it works. So, off to restart iTunes Match for the umpteenth time...

Four days later, still more than 2000 songs unmatched, still crashing regularly.

Another thing that comes up regularly, when restarting: "iTunes is matching a library from another computer. Do you want to switch to matching this one?" (Obviously, that's not the exact wording -- but something like that.) ???? I am only matching (or rather, trying to match) the contents of one library. Why does iTunes Match think there is more than one?

This adds one more time-consuming step in the whole process because I have to be around to click "Yes", otherwise the thing doesn't proceed.

Anything I can do to convince iTunes Match to skip this step?
