Q: JAVA Update

Target.com is asking for an updated JAVA in order to print coupons, but the system update says all is up to date. Solution??

    You probably have Java disabled in Safari's Preferences > Security, which is a good defense against Java malware:

    Personally, I recommend not enabling it and informing Target of your displeasure for their reliance upon Java for such a trivial task.

     

    However, if you must print these coupons then enable Java in Safari Preferences, then quit Safari. Then, run Software Update which will probably offer the Java for OS X Lion 2012-003. Here is the direct link to the update: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1515

     

    If you are running Snow Leopard then the direct download link is: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1516


    Then, launch Safari and enable Java in Safari Preferences. You should be able to print the coupons.

     

    After that I recommend disabling Java again.
