How do I keep WebDAV from making ._ files?

I am connecting to a Tomcat WebDAV server hosted on a Windows machine. I need to move files back and forth from my Mac, but the files get split up when they are put on the WebDAV server. This splitting confuses the server because it wants to version control both halves of the file.
When I connect using Transmit application, these files do not appear. Is this just because Transmit does not send them?
Do I need to change some settings on the windows server or on Tomcat to handle the apple double files properly?

I would rather not erase them, since I want to keep them on other servers. Also, using Tomcat to open every file I need to work on is not an option.
