Kernel Panic While Cloning HDD!!

I put a second hard drive in my Power Mac G4 Quicksilver 2002, and I decided to clone the old HDD to the new. The first time I tried it, it went on, never starting, just saying "calculating estimated time." In my foolishness, I closed the window, and ignored the warning. The second time I tried it, it went on for a good while, so I left it to it. When I came back the kernel panic screen was up. I restarted the computer, and checked the second HDD. It had about half of the Applications copied into it, so it was working initially. I booted with my install DVD, and ran disk utility and both disks were fine, no repairs needed. What happened? Should I try it again? Should I erase the second HDD and then try again? What was the problem? Did I do ANYTHING right? If anyone knows what it means, this was the kernel panic info:

What App are cloning with???

Have you used Disk Utility to Verify & Repair if needed both Drives?

Disk Utility to clone. I Verified and Repaired, nothing needed repairing. Should I just attempt it again, maybe with another application?

Best way to get an exact bootable copy of your old drive to the new one is with Carbon Copy Cloner...

I'd try it, it's inconclusive as to what caused it, shouldn't hurt to try it, but first...

In Finder's Menu, select Go menu>Go to Folder, and go to "/volumes". (no quotes)

Volumes is where an alias to your hard drive ("/" at boot) is placed at startup, and where all the "mount points" for auxiliary drives are created for you to access them. This folder is normally hidden from view.

Drives with an extra 1 on the end have a side-effect of mounting a drive with the same name as the system already think exists. Try trashing the duplicates with a 1 or 2 if there are no real files in them, and reboot.

On some drives or drive combinations it does matter, normally if iirc, Cable Select is the prefered Jumper setting on both... or was that MDDS & up???

Some drives have a Master with Salve vs. Single setting.

I'm a bit lost... How do I figure out which drive setting it needs to be? (open the case, look at the jumper settings, ect...)?

Your machine (2002 Quicksilver) should have drives jumped Master and Slave; best if the Master is on the end connector of the IDE ribbon.

Your system report says that you have an Airport card AND a USB wireless 801.11g device, the second of which (I assume) uses the Ralink driver that is included in the report.

I would remove the USB wireless device while cloning.

I would (and do, exclusively) use SuperDuper to clone, as I have seen far fewer reports of inability to boot with a SuperDuper clone than I have seen with CCC clone users.

Thank you for the help, japamac and BDAqua... One more confusing question. I went to the /volumes and saw the aliasas. But what exactly do I do there? I found "Macintosh HD 1," but that had all the proper files in it, while "Macintosh HD" had the little bit that was originally cloned before it kernel panicked. If I'm not making any sense, here's some screenshots:

I'm afraid to do anything or download anything before I fix it.

the top Machintosh HD has both of it's things as Aliases, but what is on the Macintosh HD below iDisk?

What do you get with Finder>GO>Go to Folder>/Volumes/

I get that. What the pictures show. The bottom Macintosh hd is the one that was half cloned. There is no volumes folder in there, it wasn't copied Over. The second photo is what it looks like when I click on it. I think that "Macintosh HD" is the half cloned drive, because it only has a couple of the applications in it, and "Macintosh HD 1" is the normal, full drive.

My "volumes" folder isn't hidden, it's right there on the screen. Perhaps because we have different os's?

Volumes is normally only hidden on the Boot Drive, but it can be made visible, but can I see a window that says Volumes on the top of it like Mine, or doesn't yours do it?
