iChat Video Not Working? 2012

I have...

Mac OS X Version 10.6.8

MacBook Pro

My iChat is connected to Gmail. My iChat allows video and voice calls. However, when I try to make any call, the buttons below are idle. Meaning, it cannot be pressed. The idle buttons look like this:

See how they are shown below grey? All of my buddies don't have iChat... sadly. So in order for me to be able to call someone is when they, too, have iChat? If so, then why can't it work for Gmail users as well?😐

Hi,

See how those Buddies don't have Video or Audio icons in the first place ?

They should have green icons like the one you have.

iChat will not Video Chat to anyone Logged in to the GoogleTalk Chat via a Web Browser,

Not to the Standalone App for PC also called GoogleTalk.

Google run a Jabber server for GoogleTalk.

This uses a different Protocol to iChat for Connecting and delivering Video over Jabber.
It also means that iChat cannot Video Chat to anyone Logged in via a Jabber app.

Please, if posting Logs, do not post any Log info after the line "Binary Images for iChat"
