Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

Fix iPad Wifi Connection and Signal Issues

Cheers, Tom 😉
Here's a weird one. I was running though Tom's lists again for possible theories and fixes, and was again intrigued with the possible low power issue. I turned off auto-brightness and my speed quadrupled!! I think it would be worth other people trying this and seeing if you get the same positive result.

I have iphone 4 and ipad 2 but don have the same problem .....
This is rediculous.
I am a LONG time user of an iPad 1, 16GB with 3G, over a year of 10 hour/day use.
No issues with it whatsoever with switching from Wifi -> 3G.
I now have an iPad 3, 16GB with 3G and most of the time it won't switch from wifi to the mobile data without a forced reboot, which when sitting in a clients office is most frustrating.
This was seemless on the iPad 1.
I go through the hoops on the Apple site for support, and now I have an Apple support computer calling my office every 10 minutes to talk to me, but when I answer, the computer says it's from Apple and promptly hangs up.
So I'm supposed to give up half my day to drive to my nearest store, or put up with an inherantly faulty device all whilst wasting my time answer the phone to a computer that hangs up the call.
The Apple computer stopped ringing after about 20 minutes, so some reprieve.
I hope they fix it soon, Windows 8 is looking inviting....
I turned off auto-brightness and it is work , thanks
I tried all the fixes that I saw in the support groups and nothing seemed to work. AppleCare led me through some diagnostics and the problems persisted. They suggested taking the iPad to the Genius Bar and have them test the signal strength.. Could not connect to the Apple store wi-fi for 5 minutes. They gave me a new iPad.
Came home and noticed that the wi-fi signal was fading in and out. Yet my iphone4s showed a strong signal. After several days I noticed that the signal faded when I was holding the iPad on the bottom. It rarely fades when I'm holding it with the smart cover behind the iPad.
Sounds like the iPad has an antenna problem like the iPhone last year.
Had exactly the same Wifi drop out problem with new iPad. Everything else was working fine in the house. Turned off auto brightness solved the problem for me too. Hopefully this will be sorted in a software update soon.
Take that back...still intermittent. Switched wifi on and off and it reconnects. But for how long?
Have iPad 1 and iPhone 4 in same location they don't loose connection? Obviously a big problem form the amount of people searching for this fault. Hope it's a software bug not a hardware problem.
I'm in the market for an ipad 3 but I've run across this discussion and am concerned. Is this just a minor annoyance or should I consider an ipad 2 as that one doesn't seem to have the wifi issue.
Thanks.

If I had to do it again, and know what I know now, I'd save some money and buy an iPad 2. Apple has not announced any plan for fixing the problem that countless of us are suffering with.
I was about to buy one too this week, but I think im going to wait until i see results on this problem, that'd be a $500 waste!!!
Apple hurry up, you loosing customers!!!
Got new iPad 3 two weeks ago. No problems accessing wifi network at home (iMac) until 2 days ago. Everything OK in the general settings...connects t to my home wifi network but wont connect to the internet. Turned off autobrightness yesterday, and bingo, it connected to internet. However, today, same problem and I can't connect to the internet. Come on Apple, get this fixed!
