Mono NOT Stereo sound on iTunes for people who are deaf in one ear...
I am deaf in one ear. Is there a way I can get monaural sound from iTunes? (I know how to do it on the iPhone...)

There isn't a switch within iTunes to force mono output, but you should be able to pick up a 3.5 mm mono to stereo adaptor which you could plug into your computer before your speakers/headphones and which should effectively merge the two signals.

OK, thanks. A bit of a hassle... on the iPhone you can just choose Mono vs Stereo. For me, this is definitely an idea to build into iTunes.
Thanks again,
d.
You could drop a line to iTunes Feedback.
In practice it might be better if there was a global option at the level of the operating system (as there is with iOS) so the request should go to Microsoft.
(I've just checked the Ease of access options in Windows 7 and I can't see anything there, though I suppose Windows 8 may include such a feature. I think Mac OS X has this but I'm not absolutely certain.)
Adding a physical adaptor is a cheap solution that you can put in place now rather than waiting, perhaps forever, for either organization to take up your suggestion.

Hi again tt2:
Many thanks for your help, and I agree it may be quicker and more effective to get the adaptor...
I'll certainly feed this back to Apple/iTunes, and look around in Windows 7.
Thanks again,
diego
You CAN do this operating-system wide on Mac OS (at least in Lion). From the System Preferences, go to Universal Access. Under the Hearing tab, there is an option to "Play stereo audio as mono". Good luck!
