How is it formatted, if HFS or FAT yes, if NTFS no
OS X can read NTFS as well - it's only Windows that can't read OS X format HFS.
Macs can read NTFS but not write to it natively.

No, do you? The OP asked if the drive can be connected. It can but there may be limitations. Saying you cannot connect an NTFS drive is not correct, it is only partly correct. I know you know that.
