Forgot my ansewrs to my apple id security questions. How can I change my answers?
This is a good question....and don't respond with logging in and changing it by selecting "manage your account" or by sending us to the FAQ...
NONE OF THAT WORKS!!!
Basically if you have access to your account but need to change the answers to the security questions because either you typed them in wrong in the first place or you forgot them or someone gained access to your account and entered something for you....you are SOL.
They can't be changed without answering them first!! The system is broken.
I've reset my password twice and have full access to my account but still can't reset or change the security questions.
The problem I have is that a third party now knows my security questions and can access my account any time regardless of how often I reset the password...
NOT VERY SECURE!!! THIS WAS A BAD IDEA!!! WAY TO GO APPLE!
Apple support can reset your security questions for you. Just make sure your recovery email is correct before you do.
It seems easier to steal someones Apple ID than it is get your own account back.
How is it possible that the secret questions and especially the recovery email can be changed with no confirmation from the account owner ???
People need to be aware how slack Apple are in protecting and sorting this problem.
In another post you inadvertently posted your email details and other details. Easy to do but they are then publicly available.
I think from a separate reply Apple fixed your problem for you, you mightbwantbtomupdate your original thread to reflect this even if it was a frustrating experience!
I am having the same problem. I was able to reset my password, but the security question is foreign to me. It is asking me questions that I dont even know the answer. The worst part is that there seems no other way to change it. ***!!
Can we get a help here Apple???
I agree this is whack, apple servers get hacked again recently?
I also need to change my security answers but can't. While downloading an app for my iPad, a screen came up asking me to fill in the security question answers. I mistyped or something, because the answers I thought I gave do not work.
This is a dumb system.
Please fix.
Hi. Today I got an email telling me exactly this:
Hello,
The following information for your Apple ID my_email_add@email.com was updated on 04/30/2012:
Security question(s) and answer(s)
If these changes were made in error, or if you believe an unauthorized person accessed your account, please reset your account password immediately by going to iforgot.apple.com.
Seriouly? I mean... this seems like a joke to me. How such a big company like APPLE can have such a lame system?
I want to reset my Security Questions and Answers so please Apple team just do your job how you're supposed to do it.
Regards.
yes - same problem myself. Be nice to know how to resolve or as I understand it the hacker has access to my apple id for ever and always - as I can't delete an apple id?
Same problem! I want to change the alternative email, too, but I can't!
I too have this problem. It is really sad that this is not addressed anywhere in the FAQ. Also, who can we contact to get help? I have been unable to find anyone to email or call for help. I need to change my questions because I cannot remember the answers, yet I have to have the answers to change the questions. Seriously?
Contact Apple support: http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/contact/
Support will ask for some information to confirm your identity. Once that is done, Support will reset/delete your security questions - allowing you to re-select and re-answer them.
I contacted Support by email last night and had the problem resolved around lunch time today. I chose the ExpressLane option and "iTunes Store" as my product.
Product : iTunes Store
Support Subject : Account Management
Sub Issue : Managing or editing iTunes Store account
Thanks MMUU for the suggestion. I have message the support group with the following message, Hopefully, they will address this issue soon. If not, keep sending them notice until they do. Thanks.
Hi Support,
There seems to be no easy way to fix this problem without getting support involve. The problem is, when the security question is forgoten, there is no way of resetting it by means of authenticating the users identity. I got a notice that my security question has been changed, which I did not authorized. So when I tried to access it, i can only reset my password (which I did), but changing the security question (which is not the same as my old security question), requires me to answer a question that I never set in the first place. There should be an easier way to reset this without getting support involve. Because if someone hack into your account, there is no use of changing the password if the hacker has a hold of your security question already. They can easily reset your password again since they are the only one who knows of the new security questions and answer.
This is a brewing issue in the community bulletins that should be address. Please respond to this topic. Thank you.

If the solution is to call customer support thats not a good system. But what is even worse is that the email you get from Apple suggests you can resolve the situation by changing your password. Which of course is not true as the hacker can get in anytime even after you have changed your password. And how many people will even realise that?
Well, I got the same wonderful letter and called Apple nontech support because my computer is 4 years old so I'd have to pay Apple to tell them they messed up!
Fortunately on the 2nd call I got a Senior Adviser (first level folks know only basics so I usually ask for a manager or supervisor). In fact, I was told by 1st guy there were no managers, but then later he went to get someone and the phone went dead. Thankfully person 2 'Sterling' told me he would ask a Senior Adviser (so now I have another word to use for person above). I asked given this issues importance to talk directly to the Senior Adviser and was allowed.
Sterling (yes the adviser's name was the same as the tel answerer) said that Apple has been updating security questions, and from what he could tell, since I could log in that it was likely a glitch in their reworking security questions that caused this trouble. He got me into my account by asking other questions which hadn't changed (last 4 of credit card, address), and I got in with my old password.
So it could be a case of Apple messing up their own information. They are setting some security questions as standard and you have to choose to make your own if you want. They guessed my answers wrong by this theory. I am still not 100% as sure as Sterling is that it was an inside job, and will be careful to watch my American Express Card since it's tied to my account as my boys wanted small items at iTunes. May small not turn to big :-) Hope this helps.
Warmly, Yamasen
Well Folks, I also got this mail, and after reading all your post.
I've sent mails to Apple support. There seems to be no easy way to fix this problem without getting support involve.
I own a few apple devices, and I do not want to find out that changes are made by others on those devices.
Hopefully I'll get a quick response.
Thanks for the post
Oded.
