can't edit my journals

This might be a 2 parter. I have a swapped ipad and when I connected the ipad to my mac (not the home computer but has the exact same library - ie, music, apps, etc) It syncs all my apps and data but I cant edit my journals in iphoto app. The journals have a 'sync' icon, I can see them and open themI just can make changes to them.
