ipad won't connect to my belkin router

Hello, I really hope someone can help me with this. A friend recently gave me his Ipad (Original) and I can't get to work with my Belkin router. I have a laptop that is wirelessly connected without a problem and is working fine. My Ipad was able to connect at my workplace's wi-fi but just not at home so I'm thinking it has something to do with my router? Please help!

First Make sure your router is on and that you’re within range.

Restart your iPhone or iPad.

Restart your modem and your router.

Check All of Your Cables and Connections.

1- Turn Wi-Fi off and back on.

Go to Settings >

Tap on Wi-Fi, and toggle the switch next to Wi-Fi to On or Off.

2- Check your Wi-Fi Router.

The first thing you need to do is checking and see if other devices can be connected. This will let you know whether there is a problem with your Wi-Fi router or your ipad.

If you find there is something wrong with your router, you can try to switch off router and your iPhone for 30 seconds, and then turn them on to see if your iPhone can connect to Wi-Fi network. If fails, please read on!

All of those setting in the article are in the router. Go to the router control panel from your computer, and match up with what the article suggests. I ran my pad on a 10 yr old belkin and it worked fine. Is the pad seeing the signal?

In fact, before you go horsing with thenrouter settings, make sure you are getting thru the security routines. Most routers dont need the default settings adjusted. And if your is working ok with other devices, it may be just fine.

Additional things to try.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
