Installer Quit Unexpectedly

ok so after the flashback update I am experiancing a very odd and annoying problem that I have no idea how to solve. When i run any pkg installer I am presented with a screen that tells me the installer failed unexpectedly and the resulting details are below. They very slightly but the bulk is the same.

Thanks Baltwo - So I tried this took me a while to download the package as its 1.33GB and ClearWireless is a bit slow 🙂

So I got the package from the following URL: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1484

When I run the package I get the following, Any other brilliant ideas?

Ok I was able to figured out the resolution to the issue with the installer on my own.

  1. Mount the MacOSXUpdCombo10.7.3.dmg by double clicking on it.
  2. Open a terminal window
  3. Run the following command: "sudo installer -pkg /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ 10.7.3\ Update\ Combo/MacOSXUpdCombo10.7.3.pkg -target /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD"
  4. Reboot using the following command: "sudo shutdown -r now"

NOTE: This will take 10-15 minutes to run the installer and you will see something like the following:

installer: Package name is Mac OS X Update Combined

installer: Upgrading at base path /

installer: The upgrade was successful.

installer: The install requires restarting now.

I noticed that my Mac was imediatly going back to a login screen after a few seconds once it rebooted, and I had logged in. I shutdown the mac and did a Cold Boot. Works like a champ now, and I am again able to install software and run updates of my Antivirus Software etc.

Hope this helps someone else.

I used to had this problem as well but now I fixed it and I also able to install PKG files in my mac, too! The Installer.app doesn’t work because your mac lose JavaLaunching.framework and JavaApplicationLauncher.framework. Even though you try to update your OSX software, it still doesn’t work. This is the problem that you can’t install any PKG files in your mac. But the solution is you should get JavaLaunching.framework and JavaApplicationLauncher.framework from the other mac by copying these files and pate them into PrivateFrameworks in your mac. It works 100%.
