    Hi,

thank you for responding. I did the home sharing because my mac and laptop are wireless. I am running the latest itunes on both computers.

    Many thanks.

I've done a playlist-information migration under these circumstances after a PC-to-PC Home Sharing move, so fingers crossed the instructions I've got for that (suitably modified) should do the trick for us.

First on the computer you started from, find your "iTunes Music Library.xml" file. See the following document for instructions on where to find it (note that it's the .xml file you're looking for):

iTunes: What are the iTunes library files?

Transfer a copy of that file across to the computer you're moving stuff to. (Via email or thumb drive, etc.)

Launch iTunes on the computer you're moving stuff to, and import the iTunes Music Library.xml file that you copied across. To do that on iTunes for Windows, you go "File > Library > Import Playlist" as per the following screenshot:

    Import playlist.png

Browse to the location of the iTunes Music Library.xml file from the other computer, select it and then open it. (Fingers crossed, the import procedure should be pretty similar on a Mac if the move is PC-to-Mac rather than Mac-to-PC.)
