Use My Support Profile to find a list of serial numbers for items purchased or registered with your Apple ID.

Hi, does the serial number do or mean anything do you know.  My daughter's ipod touch was stolen at a soccer game in Avon Lake OH, this past weekend.  It is registered to me, please let me know if you have any thoughts or ideas.

The serial number is most useful to establish ownership, since it will appear on its invoice (if you purchased it from Apple). It should be included on a police report so that they can find you should the iPod be recovered.

Also, consider using this service: http://www.stolenlostfound.org/

Hello - Some further ideas for stolen items. In addition to the item previously being registered with Apple, I registered my stolen unit on the following sites from an idea given by John Galt (tks), stolen911.com, stolenlostandfound.com, stolen-property.com, immobilize.com, tracechecker.com. craigslist in my area, and yes, filed a police report. I made sure I placed the serial number (SN) in a position so that the internet search engines would pick it up.  You can view what I have done by typing in the SN# CCQHCB9VDNQW in a search engine. After all this, though, it is likely we will NEVER get this Ipod back, if we do I will post an update. Further, places that take trades, like GameStop and such, apparently do NOT cross check the serial number, some pawn shops I contacted do, it is unlikely general buyers check the SN, not unless you specifically ask for the SN to check on used items to see if they are reported stolen.  Apple said that the person can walk in for service and they do not cross check, b/c of all the outlets people can get the used products from, ebay, craigslist, etc.  It would be nice if you could somehow flag the SN at Apple or iTunes with the SN, but I have been told repeatedly they don't track this. (Apple is not the police, I get it).  I don't know - there has to be a way to stop this, I would rather have this item in the trash than in the hands of the person that stole it.  Karma is an option if you are a believer in that.  Good luck to all finding their items and if anyone has some other good ideas, open to them.

    RECOVERED!!!!!!!   Stolen iPod Touch

Hello Everyone, I wanted to share wonderful news....to get the details on the situation see my other posts going back to June 2012.   I got the iPod touch back today March 5, 2013.   Many, many calls to Apple and never getting the same story twice, my local Police Department was able to get the information on who had my iPod and contacted them. The whole situation required a subpoena to get Apple to provide name of person who had this iPod b/c they registered it under their name, but we got it back!  It was decided no charges would be placed on this 20 something person (lucky day for them), will leave it at that.

One small victory, but it is a victory!!!

Good luck to all in getting their property back!
