Overheating?

My macbook power cord is getting so hot where it connects to the laptop to the point that its difficult to touch. This has never happened in the year and a half that i've had this macbook. Is this normal? If not, what can i do to fix it? I'm afraid to leave it plugged it in case it gets hot enough to start a fire. Not good!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂

No, not normal. The power brick is rated 85W for the 15" & 17" models. Since the Mac uses 16VDC, that means around 6A are flowing down the wire and causing the overheating. You definitely have to have that looked at the Apple Store or a Service Provider. For now, what you can do is read the following technote and ensure the connectors are perfectly clean, as described in #7: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1713
