I want to cut sequences on FCPX then give the cut to someone with FC Studio. Can I export the XML? - can you show me where i could learn to do this?

I was able to export an XML from FCPX to an external drive. I took the file to a friends with FC7 and it translated fine. We made an new XML file (new edit time line and made anothe XML file. I brought it to my FCPX but it says that it will not open an XML text file. Did we make the file from FC7 incorrectly?
There are two separate apps if you're going both ways Xto7 and 7toX.
OK I went on FC7, downloaded 7toX and saved the XML.
I brought it to the X and tried Importing the XML but the new file is greyed out.
I guess it did not save properly.
