Final Cut Pro X Training Series and other project files not recognized after update

I recently updated to Final Cut 10.0.4

My projects are now unrecognizeable. I have trashed my preferences. Reinstalled Final Cut Pro X. Remounted the training files. These are personal projects and projects for training from Apple. What gives?

Yes, after upgrading FCPX I was given a dialogue asking if I wanted to update my projects. I chose yes.

After reinstalling I was also given that dialogue. I again chose yes.

When I remount my projects it gives me a dialogue asking if I want to connect the projects so that FCPX can read them. I select yes, however they still do not appear in the Project Library.

I have trashed my preferences and used Event Manager X. Neither have resolved the issue.

Thanks for your response.

I have no experience of this problem so I am casting around for clues as to what has occurred.

Are the particular projects and events physically present in the original Final Cut Projects and Final Cut Events folders?

Did you move them in any way?

Have you updated FCP X previously to versions 10.0.1, 10.0.2 and 10.0.3 successfully?

I appreciate the help. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability.

No, they reside in a virtual drive on my desktop that gets created from the Apple Pro Training Series DVD. It worked before the update so I don't know why it would not recognize the drive now. The Apple Pro Training Series says specifcally not to move the files from the virtual drive. I'm currently reinstalling FCPX and the Training Series. I'm not even starting with my project files for school yet.

Here are a couple of threads which may or may not be helpful.

I know nothing about the "virtual" drive you are using and I have not got the FCP X APTS course but all the other courses on FCP X and other apps tell you to copy the files to your normal hard drive and use them as you would any other video files.

Moving the lessons and my school projects into the Home>Movies>Final Cut Events and Home>Movies>Final Cut Projects folders worked for me. I do not understand why the virtual drive would not be recognized in the latest update. I have sent a recommendaiton to Peach Pit to modify their installation documentation to recommend copying the files into the Movies folder on the Hard Drive.

In addition my school projects contained a .mp4 file after removing that Final Cut recognized the folder and the heirarchy as before. I ran into a problem where Final Cut was seeing the same events and projects on the two separate drives, but I unmounted the hard drive and all was right in the world.

Thanks again for your help.
