Apple does out of warranty replacements. I believe the cost is usually about half of what a brand new one would be but you should call them and ask.

You can get the repairs at 3rd party repair sources for less $, however, the Apple warranty will be voided.

Ugh! I dropped mine too! The Apple store will trade your damaged ipad (exactly like the one you dropped) for a new one at $249. (gotta' make appt w/Genius bar for tradeout)
i checked the website u posted....it costs like 199 bucks....shootsnikon said "The Apple store will trade your damaged ipad (exactly like the one you dropped) for a new one at $249."..why not try that which is just 50 bucks more and with valid warranty,and the most important thing is a new battery ..hahas

All I can say us that when I went to the apple store, they told me that this wasn't a refurb'ed one. I'm not clear on the warranty issue . I had 250 days left on my original warranty (it was a xmas gift) and the guy told me I could return the iPad ANYTIME before the 250 days expired.

Whether the iPad was under the original warranty is irrelevant when it comes to damage. Apple will replace it either way, for the same out-of-warranty replacement price (your warranty is technically voided due to the damage):

The replacement unit will almost certainly be a refurbished unit, but if Apple is out of stock on refurbished service stock, they may elect to replace with a new unit. That's totally at their discretion. You wouldn't know the difference in either case.
