My daughter would love to have a Macbook Pro, but I just can't afford them. I need help finding one under $300!

You won't find a new one for that price.
There are refurb units you might find at Apple, or some place like MegaMacs or another reseller.
Check with the Apple on-line store for refurbished units and see what they might have, and keep in mind that they come and go pretty frequently.
You may be very, very lucky finding one at <$300. I just checked Craigslist and the cheapest MBP I could find was $500. I did see a Macbook (not Pro) for $300 but that was probably an early model which somebody was abandoning because it won't run Lion or the upcoming Mountain Lion.
Apple is a good place to get refurbished models but as a money-making venture they sell more recent (and pricey) models, not a $300 computer. They also have to slap on a bit extra for the warranty that comes with it.

Actually you may find a Mac notebook for under $300. But I certainly wouldn't buy it.
