Mails delay (using the Hotmail server)

Hello everybody,

i use two mail accounts on my Macbook Pro (Lion 10.7.3)

One of these accounts is a Hotmail.

Now, since few days i realized that incoming mails come with delay of 10+ minutes, even i set up "every minute". However this happens only on my Hotmail account on the Macbook.

When i go directly to my account on www.hotmail.com, the mails are already there. On my iphone they are also already there....

On the other account (non Hotmail) i can receive the mails within seconds.

In the past it worked fine with the Hotmail server, but i do not know what happened since few days. Personally i haven't applied any changes...

Do you have any idea how to solve the problem?

Thanks in advance

Adam

If you are getting the same mail on your iPhone as you say straight away then it is not a Hotmail issue. The mail is on the Hotmail server and being sent down to your phone as it arrives. It is a problem in how you have the Hotmail account setup on the Mac in Mac Mail. You say you are using POP on your Mac. Hotmail, which is a MS mail provider, is now using Outlook.com which is a MS Exchange system. You can setup Mac Mail to access it using that system which is a lot like IMAP.

Finally this is a Hotmail issue. Mails from Google for example arrive instantly. Since i use Googlemail i have no problems. Probably this has to do with the POP server of Hotmail. Google use IMAP so it works definitely much better.
