I just bought an upgrade to Quicktime Pro, but it is for Quicktime 7. My Mac seems to be Quicktime 10 and the instalation istructions don't work.
Why did the Apple store sell me an upgrade that is 3 versions out of date?
How can I get Quicktime Pro for my version of Quicktime?

Snow Leopard (10.6) and Lion (10.7) can run two different versions of QuickTime but only 7.6.6 version of QuickTime Player 7 can be upgraded to Pro.

QuickTime Player installs in the Applications/Utilities folder and you enter the registration via the QuickTime Player menu.
Just followed your instructions, but after downloading and initiating installation, I received a message that QT 7 is incompatible with Lion 10.7.4. I'd like to have both versions on my MacBook Pro as the earlier version has a couple of features that work well with older media. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Did you download the QuickTime Player 7 version available via the link Niel provided? The normal QuickTime installer will not work.

Thanks, but I did use the link they provided. It worked fine when I restarted the MacBook! Sometimes I find myself forgetting the obvious. Case closed.

I am a Mac newbie - just switched from Windows about 4 weeks ago.
I am confused!
My MacBook Pro came with QuickTime Player 10. I have downloade QuickTime Player 7 from the link Niel provided. I install it. But Version 10 still shows in my applications! Even after I reboot my Mac.
I purchased the Pro upgrade and obviously cannot register it until I figure out how to get 7 to appear.
Help! How do I get my MacBook to recognize Version 7?

By default QUICKTIME 7 is installed/placed inside the UTILITIES folder, which is located inside the APPLICATIONS folder.
