How do i stop downloads from one Admin account from going onto the other one?

So there are two admin accounts on my imac, and one day i logged into the other persons account, and all my downloads were showing up in their folder, how do i seperate the two, so that what i download on the mac from my account is only visible on my account?? If you have time to answer this, i would really appreciate it!! Thanks

Each account is distinct and has it's own Downloads folder so I question your claim that Downloads of account A is the same Downloads of account B. Or that downlading while logged into account A is actually using the Downloads folder of account B.

Note, using an admin account here is immaterial to the fact that each account is separate. I should qualify that you could set up a common folder that both accounts could see and explicitly redefine the downloads folder in the browser(s) to download into there. But by default, the browsers download in ~/Downloads, i.e., the Downloads folder in a user's home directory.

...granted they were in the Mac HD folder,

You mean Macintosh HD, i.e., your boot directory? That is one of the place (actually a little deeper in there) that I was alluding to about a folder common to all accounts. But that is not the default and the only way that could happen is if you changed the default from ~/Downloads.

You never said what browser you are using. I'll assume it is Safari. Open Safari's preferences, general tab, and look at the "Safe download files to". Unless you have other reasons to place elsewhere set to Downloads in your home directory. Given what you are describing it must not be currently set there and you must have changed it sometime in the past (maybe accidentially).

If you are not using Safari every other browser has a similar preference (e.g.., FireFox preferences, general, save files to).

Very well, i have that set to downloads..But the problem still remains. So for example, lets say i wanted to download something from the mac app store, i get it, and drag it to my desktop or applications, but somehow it also appears under applications on the other account. Same is for music i download, which goes to the Mac HD. So i guess my main problem is seperating the Mac HD? Because it seems the applications folder is under Mac HD, which everyone has access to, so when i put a game in there, it shows up under every accounts applications folder. how do i stop that from happening?

You keep changing the boundary conditions. Initially it was just internet downloads from a browser (at least that is how I interpreted it). Now you are asking about app store downloads. That's an entirely different thing.

No, you cannot change that.😢 The app store insists on downloading into the /Applications (i.e., global Applications). Sorry. I'll agree wiith you should be able to control where those things download but you cannot.
