Q: I just bought a new macbook and now the backlight doesn't work and it is not the light sensor.

I just bought a new macbook and now the backlight doesn't work and it is not the light sensor. There is also no "automatically illuminate keyboard in low light" option under system preferences->keyboard. What should I do? Thanks

If at one time you turned the back light all the way down it will not come on again until you turn up the brightness manually.

It is not a fully automatic system. You have to actually have the backlight turned on/up for the Auto system to work.
