Problems showing only as 'offline'

Hi,

My company has been using MobileMe since it was released (just transferred to iCloud) and we use iChat as a way to communicate internally.

For a few months now, pretty much since iCloud was released actually, we've noticed that we're having problems with people constantly appearing offline, despite the fact that their status is set to 'Online' or other. We've done the usual of toggling statuses, removing and adding the accounts again etc but the problem persists UNTIL the 'Allow AOL's server to relay video chats' box is unticked, or if already unticked, ticked and then unticked again. This seems to fix the problem for a limited period.

Has anyone else got this problem and is there a reason for it? Is there anything else we can do to stop this happening?

Thanks,

Alex

HI,

I have seen other posts on this Off Line permanently thing but your post is the closest to a "Fix" that I have seen.

It also seem to happen to the Messages beta.

Hi,

Is your end set to Off line (which you then can't change) or is it your Buddies are saying your are Off Line ?

Hi,

Try removing (deleting) the account in the Preference (highlight and then use the minus button) then re-add the account/Screen name again.
