Q: OS X Lion Won't Install on iMac

I have an iMac currently running 10.6.8 (2.8 GHz i5 processor, 8 GB ram).  I downloaded Lion.  When I try to install it, everything seems ok, but it does pop a warning saying "OS X Lion: "Some features of Mac OS X Lion are not supported for the disk (volume name)".  The "More Info" button takes me to this URL:

"This message means the installer cannot create the Recovery HD partition on your hard disk. Recovery HD offers on-disk recovery tools, allows you to restore from Time Machine backups, reinstall OS X Lion over the Internet, or set a firmware password. Recovery HD is not needed to install and run OS X Lion, nor to access most of its capabilities and new features."

 

To be honest, I can live without that.  I do my backups with an online service anyways.  So I click Continue.  The install goes on, and very soon it prompts for a re-boot. So I reboot. When it comes back up, the "About this Mac" still says I'm on 10.6.8. 

 

I've done this now five times.  I have a feeling I could do it forever and it would never actually install Lion.

 

Any ideas?
