Powerpoint on iMac

Hi:

I have a iMac OS X and I am just about to pull whats left of my hair (just kidding)

I am very frustrated because every time I go over the slides (located on the left of the screen) with the mouse, it auto scrolls and I lose the page of the slide I was working with. This is such a big problem because it takes a while for the auto scroll to stop rolling and I lose concentration of my work.

Can someone please help me with this issue?

I don't see anything like that in Powerpoint 2011.

What kind of mouse and do you have any mouse "enhancements"-- not sure what that might be

I have Powerpoint 2008 for Mac Version. I use a wireless Mac mouse.

Have you tried restarting since seeing the problem?

And, let me make sure I understand. You're just hovering over the slide list on the side, not scrolling, clicking, or anything like that?

I have rebooted my computer several times. I am not the only person using my computer who has the exact same problems when using powerpoint.

All I am doing is sliding the mouse from the main screen to the left and crossing over the slides without clicking. Once the mouse crosses over to the slides it produces an automatic scroll that I cant control and that doesnt stop automatically. I feel like I pulled on the lever of a casino coin machine. I get really stressed out from this, since it happens constantly.

When you say other people, is that in their own accounts? If that's the case, then it is a system-wide problem, and not just your user account.

Can you boot into Safe Mode (hold down the shift key after the startup tone and hold until the gray screen)

The safe boot will take a bit longer as it clears some caches and checks the disk. When it boots, it will show the login screen. It also disables many third-party extensions, so that my rule out a conflict with other software.

While in Safe Mode, see if it happens. If it doesn't, we'll have to see what may be conflicting.

If it still happens, I'm not sure where to go.

Have you tried changing the batteries in the mouse or attempting to re-pair it with the Mac?
