Can I divide up my website?

I currently have one, big website that covers a variety of topics. It's on my own domain. When I update anything, I publish to a folder, then use Fetch to upload only the parts that have changed.

The problem is that my website is getting so big, that it takes a long time compile/publish it. So I'm thinking that it would help if it broke it up into sections, each of which could be published as a separate site, but linked so that visitors see it all as a single site.

For instance, I might have a Welcome page and a few other things as the "main" site, then have separate sites for family stuff, photos, hobbies, and business. Each would be accessed through the main site. Updates would require compiling/publishing only the specific "sub-site".

Is this possible? If so, how do I divide my existing site in iWeb, into multiple sites?

Would the other "sub-sites" need to have their own domains? I'd like to avoid that, as it could get expensive.

Here's some info about "sub" sites...

Split you site up by duplicating the Domain file as many times as you need to and delete the unwanted pages from each. Make a backup copy of the original Domain file before doing so and put it in a folder away from the rest!

Thanks. It's been nearly a year but I'm finally getting back to this issue...

I have made duplicates of the domain file, but I don't see how to open anything other than the original. When I boot up iWeb, it automatically opens the original domain, and there is nothing in the drop down File menu that allows me to select another domain to open.

Double-clicking on one of the other domain files doesn't work either, it still just opens the original domain.

Use iWebSites. Been around for years and works even better with Lion/Moutain Lion.

I downloaded DomainCracker, as recommended by the iwebformusicians website, and followed the instructions, but it won't open. (I get an error message.)

I'm a little concerned about using third party apps for stuff like this anyway. Why doesn't Apple fix iWeb so it can handle more than one domain, like it should?

I tried to use iWebSites to combine two iWeb domains but, it just kept crashing

On your video you mention using some kind of "application support tool" to choose between the sites. What tool/app are you using?

Also, is there a particular reason for moving the domain files to the desktop?

* Note that if you choose to create a new domain it will overwrite any existing file if it's named Doman.site or Domain.sites2 (in the library-->Application Support--->iWeb) without warning the user

I just downloaded that Multi_Domain app, and got the same error message when I tried to use it: "The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -67049.)"
