Does Automator Work.....

....with other programs other than Apple Programs?

Hi Ce,

I guess it kind of depends. Automator certainly could, but not a lot of third party manufacturers have chosen to include automator actions as of current. However, as automator actions can be just applescript, you can often find packages of actions for third party programs written by some besides the third party host. For instance, Photoshop has a number a automator actions available for it. Whatever your program is, just try to google it and automator together.

Yes. A number of shareware programs install with Automator actions: Tex-Edit Plus, Graphic Converter and Transmit, to name a few.

Anyone who knows AppleScript and can get their head round Xcode can create actions for any AppleScriptable application. But it's a chicken-and-egg thing: there doesn't seem to be a huge demand for actions, so no-one creates them, so no-one demands them...
