iWeb is saying my password is incorrect when uploading.

You need to check your password because the one that you use to log into fatcow and your ftp password will be totally different which is probably why iWeb is rejecting it.

Check with fatcow what you ftp password is rather than your regular log in password - the 2 are normally different.

If you have to enter fttp://fatcow.com rather than you own domain or IP number that is unusual to say the least!

Your page is a big help. I am going to try option 2. The fat cow help desk suggested the FTP:/ /fat cow.com, but that didnt work so well either. It began to upload and then there was an error.

So what worked in the end? I am new to iWeb and have the same problem. I have the right password and all. When I use it through another program, say, Fugu or Cyberduck -- no problem. All help appreciated.

Not that the OP says the files started to upload when the correct settings were entered and then there was an error.

Make sure the file path is correct.

The iWeb FTP will return an error if you try to upload files with bad names containing spaces or special characters.

I open iWeb (v. 3.0.4 / OS 10.7.4). Window comes up. In left sidebar I click on "site." I select "publish to ftp server." I enter what I think are the correct ftp server address, username, password, protocol (sftp), port, and website url. I click "Test Connection." Little progress window comes up and says password incorrect, try again.

Thank you for staying with it. I think after so many attempts I locked up the site. Now from the other applications I cannot upload. I get a denied / no premissions message. At this point I probably need to contact the host administrators.

To follow up. After talking with ITS services / host provider, it does seem confirmed that iWeb has trouble publishing to the ftp site AND creating an uploadable folder for use with another program like Cyberduck or Fugu, AND it messes up permissions in the process.

But let me double-check. When I make a wepage in iWeb and publish to a local folder, what exactly do I select in Cyberduck/Fugu to upload? The entire folder or a specific folder or file within it?

I was finally able to get the FTP upload working directly from iWeb. The ftp server name is <ftp username>@ftp.fatcow.com. The username is your FTP username that was set up for you and not your Fat Cow account username. You also need to use your FTP username/pswd combo as well.

I have asked FatCow to add this to their KB.

The same thing is happeing to me and I am really frustrated. Did you ever figure out what the issue was?

I figured it out, you have to enter ftp://fatcow.com as the host then your username and password!

If the password and username work in another FTP app, try using FTP for protocol instead of SFTP...
