"Unable to load data from sync services"

I have an iPod touch (4th generation) and when I plug it in and iTunes is open, i receive an error message in the form of: "Unable to load data from sync services. Please try again later..." I found the page on the Apple website on how to fix the problem, but that didn't help. Also, I do have the latest version of iTunes.

Also, when I do press the sync button in iTunes it just stays in the backing up stage, and when I try to cancel that and even when I unplug the iPod from the computer it still says that it is backing up. Additionally, when I click the cancel button, iTunes freezes for a while and is unresponsive.

If anyone knows how to fix this or what causes it, thanks in advance, I appreciate it.

Hmmmm.

Just in case, let's check for a LSP conflict, as per the following document:

Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store

🙂 Hi wic!

I've seen a few reports of the sync services messages in recent days that don't seem to be responding to the standard document. It might be just happenstance, but John's other symptoms seem ... evocative ... so I've been wondering if this might be (yet another) possible symptom of a LSP issue in some cases.

I think John may be the first person I've checked up on this about, so nothing to report pro or con the suspicions as yet.

🙂 Many thanks.

I don't usually associate the Windows Live LSPs with a LSP conflict, but I guess we'd better check.

Let's try wicless instructions from the following post. (This contains the netsh winsock reset instructions, which will return the Winsock key settings to their defaults, and clear away any LSP conflict or incidental damage in there.)

TS1967 Re: after upgrading itunes to 10.6.1.7 i can't connect to store. What do I need to do?

Does that help with the sync service message (and other symptoms)?
