Why can I not empty trash error -8003 ?

I am totally unable to empty trash! As soon as I start I get message that trash cannot be emptied because of an "unexpected error code -8003.

Huh?

MBP 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 4GB SDRAM; 500GB HD

You can't empty the Trash?
