I can't log in to iTunes.

Asks for my password repeatedly. I've reset it twice, and I see my username in the upper right corner, so it looks like I'm logged in but I can't buy anything. Help.

For me, I hope the problem is solved🙂.

It seems to be a bug in connection with Safari cookies as described in this tread (solution described by 'Livebox', thanks a lot). This woked for me:

I disabled Safari to automaticaly 'Remove all website data' - this worked immediately on both my machines.

No, in my opinion, you should deactivate "Private Browsing", because this could prevent Safari from akzepting cookies from Apple. iTunes seems to need the Apple-cookies in Safari.

Therefore:

1) I set cookie protection in Safari to "from third parties and advertisers" in the "Preferences > Privacy"-tab. After this I even logged in to iCloud to be sure Apple-Cookies were installed on Safari (I don't know if this was really necessary, but I did it like that).

2) then I fired up iTunes: at first iTunes asked me for my password and I had to enter my password (like before), but then the dialog did not appear again.

It worked on my MBP and on my iMac - I am pretty sure this was the solution.

I hope this will help you too!

(IAnyway, my standard browser is Firefox😎, therefore preferences in Safari don't bother me too much)

Fine!

I reported the bug to Apple using the following draft text (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3493177?start=135&tstart=0 by 'Livebox"):

"This issue persists.

Users should be able to flush Safari without affecting iTunes.

The iTunes apple.com cookie needs to be stored in a way that it is not affected by resetting Safari.

It would seem a very simple issue to resolve.

The AppStore login cookie is stored outside of Cookies.binarycookies. The iTunes login cookie needs to be stored in the same way.

The Apple Forum shows that quite a number of users (OS X and Windows) are irritated by having to repeatedly enter their iTunes passwords for no apparent reason.

Please would you provide some feedback regarding this issue as soon as possible.

Many Thanks."

The more users who do this, the more chance that Apple will take note and produce an update. This is the ONLY way to make our voices heard.

Thanks. I was locked out of itunes on my macbook for months until I found this solution. What a stupid requirement by Apple for all of us to accept cookies in Safari and have weak security in order to be able to log into iTunes! Alos, Apple's own stupid support page said that if you can't log into iTunes, then you need to upgrade to the latest version of OSX and iTunes, which also isn't necessary!

I can't log in to iTunes.
