The sdcard reader couldn't detect the sdcard.
My iMac is 27" using Mac OS X version 10.6.8
Anybody know how to fix this?

Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.
I had same problem that appeared just this past week. Updated from Yosemite to OSX El Capitan a while back, soon after it was announced. To be frank, I don't recall any difficulties after the change but can't say with 100% confidence that I actually have used the SD since the update until last week. So the difficulty may have resulted from the update. In any case after reading on this forum I was reviewing settings, etc. and noticed that an update to El Capitan was waiting to be installed. It took about 30 minutes to complete this and now the on-board card reader seems to be just fine once again. A nice coincidence :-)
