Select all in Camera roll?

This is either a silly question or a huge oversight in functionality...

How the heck do you select multiple photos in iPad Photos app (e.g. all contents in Camera Roll) for deletion?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3), +24" LED, iPad

Thank you for taking the time to explain. The suggestion to "batch select" is almost the solution — it's certainly helpful to know that it takes TWO FINGERS to carefully tap onto one smallish icon, maybe blocking the view of the blue checkmark, then dragging across each and every icon. Not tap-release. Not tap-drag. But two-finger tap-DELAY-drag.

So this is the better explanation. It's almost as convenient as some type of select all command, and it'll have to do.

It's always good to read right, including the subject title. 😉

It is possible to select all, but in a slightly different way, so you have not read aright. See the second last link in Texas Tom's reply. Step by step instructions just for you despite what you said - open Camera Roll, click on the out-pointing arrow, with two fingers press down on the first photo, the red Delete button will highlight, keep the two fingers pressed and move across, down, backward, down, forward etc etc until you select all. Ceheck marks will be added to all the photos. Now click on Delete!
