Apr 27, 2012 8:20 AM in response to Ian Lewisby The hatter,No, why would it, it should not be stuck at all let alone take more than 20 minutes for the entire install..
Maybe the DVD is scratched. Or defective memory molule. But you would have been better with 64-bit. If you bought retail you have both.
If you burned an ISO (Apple does not tell you but we do) that ISOs have to be burned slowest possible.

Apr 27, 2012 8:25 AM in response to The hatterby Ian Lewis,It is a brand new DVD not one I have burnt myself. My iMac is not compatible with to the 64-bit version as per the Apple support documents, hence why I purchased the 32-bit version.

Apr 27, 2012 8:34 AM in response to Ian Lewisby The hatter,My 2006 is also liist on the uncompatible list. So there is an extra step to reburn the DVD.
Round about way of saying you bought System Builder? rather than retail which costs more but has both.
You might also have been better with pre-SP1 if you could find it. That does get mentioned from some users.
For free there are Windows 8 CP edition (and release candidate in June) to try, those you do burn from ISO to DVD. Try that.
ALL the support docs, faq etc and manual: http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp
For 2010 iMac there is a driver for ATI. By not telling us what model mac, or whether Lion or not - so you downloaod Apple drivers from BCA

Apr 27, 2012 8:40 AM in response to The hatterby Ian Lewis,Yes I have bought a OEM copy of Windows 7 Home Premium.
Second attempt without even taking disk out and we have got as far as 80% already, nothing changed from first try.
Fingers crossed this time...
FYI Mac OS X Lion and I have already burnt a driver disk in Boot Camp before creating partition.

Apr 27, 2012 9:45 AM in response to Ian Lewisby The hatter,To me and to be clear, OEM really only refers to a true original equipment vendor, Dell, HP etc - like if you get OS X OEM DVD for your Mac model.
Sstem Builder will work on any system.
SP1 can be an issue for some.

Apr 27, 2012 9:50 AM in response to The hatterby Ian Lewis,Well Windows is now running! Just going through the Boot Camp driver installs now. Just seemed it wasn't happy first time around, but second attempt went without a hiccup.
Thanks for our support anyway.

Dec 4, 2013 8:23 AM in response to Ian Lewisby jboison,If having stalling issues - make sure that the drive you're using is on a flat, level surface. I've experienced stalls with an optical drive that was resting on an angle upon a docked laptop.

Dec 5, 2013 7:00 PM in response to Csound1by jboison,my answer wasn't as much for Ian - as for the person who might find themselves here reading the answers when they're experiencing a similar issue.
Tho it brings me joy that my answer gave you a seemingly desperately needed opportunity to post your snark.
Happy to help!

Jan 13, 2014 5:55 PM in response to Ian Lewisby I_Decay,I logged in just to say, jboison's comment about the fact that the computer needs to be level just solved my problem. My MacBook was slightly tilted sitting in the couch, I placed it level on the desk and it immediately started to continue the expansion of windows files.
