Apr 27, 2012 9:44 AM in response to ThunderConby BGreg,Adding memory is very easy on the newer mini's. See this note: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4432
In terms of which memory, see OWC at http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/mac-mini/ or see Crucial at http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Mac%20mini%20(Intel%20Core%20i 5%202.3Ghz)%20DDR3%20-%20Mid%202011&Cat=RAM
Both are good sources of memory. You'll see memory isn't awfully expensive, so you might consider getting a matched pair, as the system will perform a little better with a matched pair. It will work with an umatched pair, however, I always like to optimize for performance where possible.

Apr 27, 2012 3:10 PM in response to ThunderConby BGreg,You're buying a memory upgrade. In the case of Crucial, that link takes you right to the memory upgrades available for your system. For OWC click on the mini 2011 memory to get their choices.

Apr 27, 2012 3:37 PM in response to ThunderConby iVmichael,I just upgraded this from 8GB ($55) to 16GB ($199) with OWC RAM (it came with 2GB) - very easy to swap the sticks. It's best to buy two matched sticks and upgrade that way, it's cheap so put in as much as you can afford, right now going to 8GB ($55) would be your best bet I believe. You can even get some money back from OWC by sending your old RAM back to them!
The RAM you want is: PC10600 DDR3 1333MHz SO-DIMM 204 Pin

Apr 28, 2012 7:43 AM in response to ThunderConby ThunderCon,everything looks good so far -- 4gb has shown up in system. i accidentally broke off a small pit of black plastic from the bottom RAM slot, but i put a 1gb stick in and it still worked.
one other question i had was if it's worth putting a 1gb stick in addition to the 4gb stick. so far 4gb seems like more than enough for me.
thanks
