MagicPrefs hanged

Hi everybody,

I have been using a magicmouse with my macbook air and works fine, although since I have it I never manage to make it work with my Macpro. Always had a problem with the magicprefs always turning off and the scrolling not working.

I was hopping to get the problem solved with the Lion. Finally I did the upgrade and had the exact same problem.

When I turn the magicprefs on I get this error:

User uploaded file

User uploaded file

and then, every minute get the following problem:

User uploaded file

User uploaded file

(MagicPrefs hanged and was restarted by MPSafeguard.

This most likely means there are conflicts with other software, see MPSafeguard's preferences.)

This is not my first post on this problem, but never got a solution for it.

I don't have the usb overdrive installed, I know that can give this problem and already tried to uninstall several programs to see if any of them were

creating this issue.

In the system preferences where I should find the magicmouse preferences I got the preferences for any other bluethooth mouse:

User uploaded fileUser uploaded file

I've tried everything that I can remember 😟

If anyone can help me with this I would appreciate very much.

Thank u

Ana

Me too. Just sayin'. Running 10.8.2. The annoying dialog boxes started three days ago, seemingly at random: no new software, no system upgrades, etc. Mystifying. MagicPrefs will need to go unless we find a fix. I can't even find MPSafeguard on my machine to look at the prefs, in spite of what the dialog is telling me.

Happy new year to all.

OK like a lot of things in life, once I start talking about it a solution presents itself. I had recently linked to a second bluetooth magic mouse. Following the directions at the MagicPrefs website, I pointed to one of them and tagged it as a "favorite" and my troubles ceased.

I have multiple magic mice, which will work with MagicPrefs ?

If you have multiple Magic Mouse devices paired on your system the settings will be applied only to the favorite one.
Navigate to  > System Preferences > Bluetooth > select the device > press the cog wheel > Show More Info > press the cog wheel > Add to Favorites.

Your mileage may vary, but it worked for me.

Cheers.
