How can I convert and/or import .3ga Android phone Voice Recorder files to iTunes playable format?

My new Android smart phone (Samsung Galaxy S Blaze) has a pre-installed "Voice Recorder" which creates .3ga files of whatever I record with that app. But I can't find anyway to play or utilize them on my PC. I'm new to iTunes (for Windows Vista), and I'm hoping it can play these files somehow but when I drag them to the iTunes window the red circle with a line through it shows up and the file doesn't get transferred. I've also tried importing via iTunes File > Add file to library > click on file on my PC, but then after a second the "Add to Library" window disappears and the Voice file is nowhere to be found in iTunes. Any ideas are welcome. I'm pretty low tech....

Thanks!

Thanks Ed,

Unfortunately, before posting my question here, I read and tried that article and it did not work for me. I still got the red "not allowed" circle when dragging the renamed file to the iTunes window. Apparently my Windows Vista was not changing the "File type" when I renamed the file "xxxx.mp4", like it usually does when I change an extension. After more research and a lot of trial and error the info in this link http://www.blogyourearth.com/en/video-2/3gp-3ga-mp3-converter/2599 under "How to Change a File Extension" helped me solve the problem. So after changing the "File Type" correctly and then following the rest of the instructions in the article you posted, everything works as it says it should and iTunes plays the new .mp4 and/or the iTunes converted mp3 Voice Recorder files just fine!

Thanks again!

I found by simply selecting my Samsung Galaxy .3ga file >share to my dropbox> change extension to .3gp on my (dropbox)Macbook it would then play on my Macbook when clicking on to file from within dropbox. However, it would not play on my ipod touch/ipad. Surprisingly, sending the now .3gp file by email to myself>opening the received email and clicking on file, after download it now played on ipod touch/ipad. Changing the .3ga to .mp3 I expect will also work.

No idea how this works - but there you have it - it worked for me.

Regards

To play the 3ga file on iTunes, you have two choice.

First, rename the extension from .3ga to .mp3.But this way doesn't always work.Changing file extension doesn't change file content and format, it is still a 3GP file. If your player doesn't support 3GP format and AAC codec, it cannot play your 3GA file whatever extension you change it to be.

Second,convert 3ga file to mp3 with a professional 3ga to mp3 converter.
