You may need to use cloud storage like Dropbox or SugarSync, then access the files either from the Dropbox or Sugarsync app (which will then let you launch the files with whatever app is capable and installed), or perhaps directly from Keynote if it can see your cloud storage.

I like Dropbox, but you can also just email the file,to yourself, or sync it using file share in I tunes on your computer.

This article explains how to use file sharing with iOS. I use file sharing with Pages and it is really easy to use. It does require connecting the iPad to your computer and it is done through iTunes.

If you have an iCloud account, you can drag the file into the browser window on your computer - into the Keynote section of iCloud - and then the files will appear in Keynote on your iPad.

Try Goodreader. You can use the App to transfer files to your iPad in several ways. The app can read MS PowerPoint files as well as excel,PDF, doc., and image files.
