Q: Trouble with touch screen for iphone4

The screen displays an outlined box around each item I touch, I have to press down on a number and tap it several times for it to work, and I am not able to scroll. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I tried turning the phone off, however, that didn't help. I took off the screen protector and cleaned the screen to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions that I have not tried that may work?

I went to the Apple store and a representative helped me fix the problem. She said that I had to turn the Voiceover setting off by going to settings, general, accessibility and Voiceover. Luckily the problem was solved!

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW.
If the basic troubleshooting steps don't work, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and probable replacement.

I am having the same problem. I can't get to the voiceover choice since my phone won't scroll! I am on vacation so unable to fully reset until I get home.

Roger,

Trust me, I know how frustrating this could be. I'm glad the problem was solved for you. My phone wouldn't scroll either, but I found out that it will scroll if you use two fingers. I would suggest turning off the Voiceover setting to prevent future problems.

Good point. I turned off Voiceover and all other accessibility items in settings.
